So when my sister asked me to help her with her newly-purchased home, one of the first things we agreed on was the exterior needed to be painted.
Here is the before:
It really is a nice home, but with such a beautiful landscape and cool front door, the home needed fresher colors to help update it's look. We decided to go for a more "California" inspired look.
*The white is brighter in these photos than in real life*
I am in love with the Benjamin Moore Woodlawn Blue front door. It's such a pretty front door - it's nice that it will finally be noticed. And yes, please ignore the fact that my sister has not taken her Christmas lights down!!
But isn't it a nice change and what a difference it made! Before the home just blended in, but now the greens look greener and the florals are more beautiful. You notice the stone accents and the front door. All of the details come to life.
Are you getting the itch to paint your exterior? I know that it's one of my favorite updates to a home. We are working on some exterior updates on my home as well. Update to follow soon...
On the 15th of June the workers will come to paint the house!! It's settled!! And I hate beige also! Here, in Romania, almost all freshly painted houses are beige and brown! I hate it!! Told hubby I wanted white(ish) and smok(ish)-grey !!!! Now I have something to show him!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous house and the lanscaping is awesome!! Great job!!

What a change! I don't get the beige trend either. Great job! And, I love the front door and the shutter colors too.
ReplyDeleteWow, I bet the neighbors thought a new house was built and they missed it somehow...such a drastic difference. It looks fantastic!
ReplyDeletePerfect choice. It makes the landscaping stand out. I have woodlawn blue on my living room walls and love it!
ReplyDeleteNot sure if I will ever tire of white houses. I'm a bit obsessed. This looks great and I love the door color!
ReplyDeleteUNREAL
ReplyDeleteLooks unbelievable. I am obsessed.
Ha! I feel the same way about beige - ugh! I'll take cream, white, or pale grey ANY day over beige!
ReplyDeleteHoly Cow. What a night and day difference! I love that paint transforms like that.
ReplyDeleteAlso, LOVE the white. and that door is to die for! The moldings around it too. sigh.
Well done.

Beautiful!! I have been wanting do this to my house and have a brown roof with ORB gutters and was worried how it would look. It looks like your before pictures the roof is brown and after is black? Do you know what color the roof is? Because it looks gorgeous!! Love!
ReplyDeleteThe roof is the same color - just looks different because of the different color of the home and maybe the photography. But the color is a grayish slate color. Hope that helps!
Deletegreat transformation! what color of white did you use and what color are the shutters? thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteIn the "before" picture the garage doors are barely visible and appear to be brown, like the front door. In the "after" shot they are not visible; did you paint them gray like the shutters? (Like Heather, I'd love to know what white and gray paint colors were used!)
ReplyDeletethis door is exquisite! i just love it!
ReplyDeleteThank you for showing us this house!! I felt inspired!! Wrote about your work here:

love it! what a difference. looks so fresh and modern yet classic.
ReplyDeleteDid I miss what color this white is? If so, sorry! Can you share? It's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI too would like to know what color choices were used for this remodel!!!Great work ladies!
ReplyDeleteWhich sisters house? Its beautiful. Jann
ReplyDeleteGiving your house an overall exterior update made it look a lot stunning! I suggest that to make your door standout, better paint its frame with a different color. A darker shade of blue will do, just to put emphasis. Anyway, I enjoyed your other exterior updates, Marianne!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing ood and helpful article with us. I really have enjoyed all of this very cool information.

ReplyDeleteWhat is the name of this type of door? Is it a standard size front door or slightly larger? I’d love to replace my front door with this style. Thank you! Beautiful work!
