I love dutch doors! We stayed in a home in Coronado, CA that had a dutch door for the front door and I loved it. We could have the top half open for some air, we could answer the door without the kids or dog running outside. It was great. I'm seriously considering a dutch door for the front entry door. What do you think? You don't see these doors very often and I'm wondering if that's for a reason...
I love the idea of a dutch door for a kitchen or casual entrance...but it may be a little awkward for the front entrance...however if a wolf were coming to the house dressed as grandma it would be easier to bar him from entering....
ReplyDeleteSeriously... I remember seeing some dutch doors and I think one of the problems could be that after a while, they don't match up. One half gets warped or something...the one in the picture is very attractive.
ReplyDeleteGood point...maybe I will do a dutch door for the kitchen door. Especially because on that side of the house it is shaded from the weather, so it shouldn't get warped, but the front door would. Darn it! Wish I lived in Cali where the weather is perfect :(
ReplyDeleteI have this on a front door and live on the water and no problems other than seal needs replaced cause of draft but I love it
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI love dutch doors....go for it! What makes you happy and that picture brings a smile. We just got back from Coronado...we love it there!
Can't wait to hear what you decide.
Take care,
Claudia
